Remarks owner: | The early history from this car comes from the 356 Registry magazine volume 25, number 4. Originally, the car was owned by Loyal Katzke, an imported car dealer in Omaha, Nebraska. He raced the car in a SCCA race in Denver and finished second in class. Later in 1956 the car was sold to John Peters, also of Omaha. He entered it in the race at Elkart Lake and finished fourth overall. The engine failed because of poor lubrication and a second engine was purchased. The car was sold again and this owner used it as a daily driver until the second engine also blew. The engines were taken apart but the work wasn\'t finished. In 1962, Tom Bruch bought the car, when he found it in a garage in Cedar Rapids. He used the Speedster for speed runs at the salt flats at Bonneville. In 1967 he set a record in the 1250cc class, with a pushrod engine based on a Typ 506 case. In 1975, Mark Bouljon bought the car and used it for autocrossing until 1982. It has been in restoration for several years untill it was sold through European Collectibles in early 2003 to Italy. A four-cam engine was prepared by Bill Doyle. The resoration is carried out in Italy an the car will be used in historic race events. |
