Remarks owner:	This is one of the three RHD Carrera Speedsters delivered to Australia. It was originally owned by Dennis O\'neil and raced by John Ould in the Melbourne sports car race. From Mr. O\'neil it went to Arnold Williams in Brisbane. Mr. Williams sold the car to an unknown owner in 1959-60. Before selling he removed the tacho and Carrera scripts. The unknown owner removed all other Carrera bits before selling it to Gilbert Kerr. The next owner Greg Lund from Brisbane bought it for $Aust. 600 in 1972. At that time it was red, but obviously had also been white (on top of its original Aquamarine) and the quad cam engine was missing. The Speedster bucket seats had been replaced by a split rear squab bench seat, the dashboard had been covered with vinyl. It had 1600S badges, a non Carrera tachometer, and nothing to indicate what it had begun life as. Then, in 1989, the Carrera secret was uncovered. Mr. Greg Lund searched for any clues to the whereabouts of the original quad cam motor, but with no success, so finally decided to leave it as a 1600S. Before he had a chance to finish the latest restoration, people started phoning him and bidding the price up. It was sold it in an unfinished condition to Greg O\'Keefe, of Melbourne, for $Aust. 110,000. Mr. O\'Keefe put in a two liter engine and gearbox before he sold it to Mr. Warwick Miller (owner of Carrera Speedster # 83727). Mr. Miller had it restored like an Outlaw 356 hybrid. The current owner Mr. Dan Bowden converted the car back to a more original look and fitted a Glaspar hardtop. Dan Bowden competed in the 1999 Targa Tasmania and finished first in class.
