Remarks owner: | Delivered to NYC Porsche distributor Max Hoffman in march or April 1958, the car was sold to Harry Blanchard. He raced the car in the SCCA\'s F Production class and produced numerous wins in 1958 and \'59. Prior to December 1959 the car was sold to Stefan Swarcze of NYC. He continued to campaign the speedster in SCCA races. After the car was wrecked in a racing accident, it was stripped of all its Carrera parts, including the engine. The chassis was sold to Hans Ziereis. The car was used in Class E production racing with a super engine. Ziereis took the Northeast Division E Production title for 1963 and the 1964 E Production National SCCA title. In 1967 the car was sold to Andras Petery who raced it regularly in Northeast Class E Production contests. In 1971 it was sold to Martin and Richard Traiser for $3.500. They used it as a training car and regularly raced it. In 1981 it was sold to Victor Zeller for $4.500. By then the car was painted green. In 1997 the car was sold to Steve and Kinga Johns of Scotsdale Arizona. It was restored by European Collectibles in California, finished in its original Presentation Silver. The car only misses its original drivetrain. The full story of the car and pictures of its current state can be found in a six-page article in Excellence November 99. |
