Remarks owner: | This is one of the rare GT Speedster with a pushrod engine. However, it came with a spare four-cam engine, P90705 and a spare gearbox when it was delivered at the factory in March 1959. This information comes from an article in Excellence magazine Feb 1991.
Raced in period by first owner Gerhard Koch in 1959 winning at Zandvoort on the 5.7.1959 with race number 32, also raced that year at Nurburg Ring and Solitude amongst others wit great success. Only GT Speedster to come from the factory with a pushrod engine and quad cam. Quad Cam P 90705 fitted at Nordrhein on the 9.5.1959. When car was sold to second owner Heinz Weck the pushrod engine 83617 was reinstalled because Gerhard wanted to keep the engine as a spare for his newly aquired Abarth Carrera. Gloeckler Porsche in Frankfurt maintained 84942 for Heinz Weck. 84942 is currently fitted with its original pushrod engine. |
